Okay, girlies, it’s time for a yap sesh because we need to catch UP. It has been a minute since my last post, and I want to know how everyone is doing. Yes, this is my formal invitation for you to yap with me in the comments.
So let’s get into it, shall we?
What I’ve been up to!
In April, my husband and I went to see my in-laws, and we went to the cutest farmer’s market in their hometown. We also spent time at an antique store and celebrated Easter with the whole family.
May has been so much fun! I got to spend a long weekend with my mom and sister to celebrate my mom’s 60th birthday! We roamed around a giant flea market, picked up lots of coffee, and watched a Nancy Meyers movie.
I had a fun little friend date last week where we grabbed coffee & tea, took some cute pictures, and made little clay magnets (that we still have to paint, glaze, and magnetize lol).
Reading, watching, listening
I’m currently reading "Just for the Summer" by Abby Jimenez (I absolutely love her books, and I’m really enjoying this one so far!) I was shocked when she recently revealed that all of her books have been written on her phone. She has never had a formal writing space. She mentioned that one of her fans’ favorite scenes was written while in line at the grocery store.
All of my excuses are now gone thanks to Abby Jimenez.
I also checked out Pamela Anderson’s cookbook “I Love You” from my local library the other day, and the whole book just feels like home. It’s such a cozy vibe!
I am watching Modern Family (which has become my new comfort show) and I’m rewatching all of my comfort movies with my husband, who hasn’t seen them all yet! I also just got finished watching The Summer I Turned Pretty series after reading all the books last summer. And before you ask, yes, I’m team Connie baby.
I also want to mention my comfort YouTube creator, Kenna Marie. I love to watch her while editing, and she puts me in a productive, get-stuff-done mood.
Podcasts I’m listening to include Khloe Kardashian’s new Khloe in Wonderland podcast, anything goes with emma chamberlain, and the occasional Call Her Daddy pod.
The artists I have on repeat rn are Taylor Swift (of course), Ariana Grande, Gracie Abrams, Sabrina Carpenter, and Selena Gomez (been stanning her since the Kiss & Tell album). So, yeah, just a lot of pop girlies and I’m loving it.
These are my comfort movies: Here's what I've learned from them
We all have our comfort movies. You know, the films you return to again and again, not necessarily because they are the best cinematic masterpieces, but because there is a certain quality about them that makes you feel nostalgic, at ease, at home.
Work talk
Lately, I’ve been working on my business. If you didn’t know, I’m a freelance writer and editor in the lifestyle, home, and career space and have been in the media industry for four years now. I officially launched my freelance writing business in January. I am absolutely loving it and am so passionate about growing my business.
Here are a few of my accomplishments from my first two quarters in business:
Have gained 3 clients (almost 4🤞)
My first commerce roundup was published on BuzzFeed
Have had 8 pitches accepted & 5 articles assigned
Made my first $5k (I’m in shock writing this number!)
Have met so many cool people
Besides pitching and trying to gain a few new clients, I’ve been working on my personal branding, which was a resolution I set out to do at the beginning of this year. I just gave my branding a refresh on LinkedIn, and so happy about it. I finally feel like it feels like me.
Also, quick aside: Please feel free to shoot me a LinkedIn connection request if we aren’t already connected.
My next big business goal is to create a portfolio website showcasing my work. So, stay tuned for that.

Fashion trends that will take over this summer
I have really been soaking up the sunshine recently. We’ve had some rainy days here in Texas this spring, but the sun always comes back out and gives me so much energy! I am so excited for this summer, not just because of the continued sun, but because of all the fun trends on the horizon. I feel like my personal style is totally in sync with what’s com…
Reflection section <3
I posted about this on LinkedIn the other day, but I wanted to talk about it here too. You really don’t have to have everything figured out before you go after your dreams.
I started my freelance business last January, but I could have started a few months earlier. I had actually turned down some opportunities at the time because I didn’t feel “ready.” The truth is (here comes the big pill you’ll have to swallow), you’ll never be ready. There will always be something you don’t quite have figured out.
I’ve learned that the best thing you can do for yourself is just go for it and figure out the hard stuff along the way. It’s much easier to figure those things out (*cough* business taxes *cough*) if you actually have to do them. The cocoon is cozy, but your wings are ready 🦋
So, how are YOU doing? What have you been up to? I want to know everything. Let’s catch up in the comments! :)
And as always, thank you so much for supporting my newsletter! <3
What a fun season to be in!!! So proud of you for taking the leap on freelance work, congrats on $5k and soon to be 4 clients!!!
Just for the Summer was a great read, I started reading Abby Jimenez because of you!! It definitely helped me get into the summer mood ☀️😌 and the drama was very entertaining / character development was sweet and refreshing.
You being Team Connie makes so much sense — I definitely think him and Belly match the most. I just love Jeremiah so much 🥲🥲🥲 so I am torn.
Cannot WAIT for this next season !!!
(I still need to read the books) (so no spoilers!!!)
Thanks for sharing your life with us! 💓🩷💖💞 & loooove the rebrand!!
I love your rebrand on LinkedIn! It's warm and cozy and professional. I feel like things here have been all over the place between jury duty (I didn't get picked, but I was there until the end of the selection process - so interesting), softball, tball, work, and house stuff. All of your outings looked like so much fun!
