Fashion trends that will take over this summer

East Coast summer is loading...

I have really been soaking up the sunshine recently. We’ve had some rainy days here in Texas this spring, but the sun always comes back out and gives me so much energy! I am so excited for this summer, not just because of the continued sun, but because of all the fun trends on the horizon. I feel like my personal style is totally in sync with what’s coming in the next few months. So, I thought I’d share some of the trends I’m predicting we will see next season and give you a few tips on how to style them!

Matcha green, sunny yellow, and tangerine

This spring, we’ve been seeing a lot of pastels. Sabrina Carpenter has popularized colors like butter yellow, baby blue, and light pink.

And while butter yellow has been the color of the spring, summer will bring a little more saturation. I think matcha green will replace butter yellow as the IT color this summer, followed by a sunny yellow and an energizing tangerine.

Jewelry attachments

Jewelry attachments, like charms, brooches, and chains, are such a fun way to add a personal touch to your outfits—and they can go on just about any article of clothing.

Brooches

Brooches are so back. We saw quite a few of them on MET Monday, and I think we will be seeing them used as a chic accessory this summer. Like charms, brooches have the ability to pack in a lot of personality and are so versatile.

Like we saw on Monday, brooches make a lovely addition to the lapel on men’s suits. Riley & Grey, a wedding invitation and website business, shared on Instagram recently that they expect brooches will totally replace boutonnieres at weddings this year.

But their use doesn’t end at formal events: These little adornments will look so cute attached to your denim, scarves, tote bags, and breezy button-down tops.

Charms

Along the same lines as brooches, charms will remain trendy this summer, spanning charm bracelets, necklaces, anklets, bag charms, and even shoe charms. Essentially, charms can be attached anywhere you can connect one.

Chunky jewelry

Chunky jewelry is having a moment right now and will continue throughout the summer. We have backed away from small, dainty pendants and entered the realm of big, statement pieces stacked on top of each other. It’s kind of like 2014, but the jewelry we’re choosing is a bit more old-world chic, and less neon pink hexagonal gemstones.

One of my fave creators and collegues, Sarah Schreiber, the owner of Sarah Schreiber Consulting and former editor at BRIDES and Martha Stewart Weddings, has been wearing this necklace stack lately that is the penacle of this trend (and so freaking cute!) Also obsessed with her brown matching set.

East coast vibes

Thanks to the return of The Summer I Turned Pretty season three, I think we will be seeing a lot of New England/East Coast summer-inspired fashion. Think seashell prints, red, blue, and yellow stripes, lobsters, oysters & pearls, and oversized airy linen. I’m personally so excited for this, since it’s the vibe I want 24/7.

Pearls, pearls everywhere

Pearls, specifically freshwater pearls, are going to be on everything this summer. From earrings, necklaces, and bracelets, to sewn into clothes, and on hats.
